Politics and the Theory of Expectations: What is happening in France?

According to “Foreign Policy” magazine (Editor’s Picks – October 20, 2026),

the cause of the perpetual rioting in France is an authoritarian and centralised state,

while protest and radicalisation are its response. In my opinion, that is not the main cause.

France has almost always been socialist.

And socialism gives birth to a whole world of expectations from the state among the people.

When these expectations are not met,

then what happens is what has been happening constantly in France.

Until France sheds its socialist skin, this will continue to happen.

When politics is focused on the fundamental duties of the state, such expectations do not arise!
